Capillary treatment

  • Broken capillaries, also known as “telangiectasias” are small red blood vessels on skin that look like spidery red marks that don’t fade away as a normal blemish. Broken capillaries are caused by genetics, inflammation, sun exposure, alcohol consumption and injuries or skin trauma. are enlarged blood vessels beneath the skin. Most broken capillaries occur in areas where the skin is thinnest, including around the nose, chin and cheeks.

  • After laser or IPL treatment for broken capillaries, it's normal to experience some redness and swelling in the treated area. These side effects usually subside within a few days to a week. It's important to avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen to protect the treated area while it heals.

  • There is a chance that these capillaries may re-appear and may need re-treatment every 1-3 years, especially due to bigger feeding veins under deeper layers of skin that we are unable to treat with lasers. Also, new broken capillaries may also appear. People with broken capillaries should avoid harsh exfoliation or excessive scrubbing/rubbing to these areas of skin, and wear spf daily to protect skin.
